Announcing the Adoption Glossary Page

by Laura on February 13th, 2013

This glossary is by no means comprehensive, it’s barely in alphabetical order! Instead, I’ve tried to group together phrases in ways that make sense only to me logical ways.

Please … head over there now and check it my brand new, super-spiffy (slightly snarky) Adoption Glossary.

Here are some of the terms that are covered:

closed adoption

family tree

original birth record

ghost kingdom

adoption kool aid

tummy mummy vs. diaper mom (Seriously! People call themselves these names, voluntarily and without irony!)

adoption constellation

post-adoption issues (Yes, Virginia, they do exist.)

real mother (As opposed to what, imaginary mother, like an imaginary friend?)

If you have additional resources and links for further reading, let me know! Or, if you have a term you want to see included, list it in the comment section … This glossary is a work-in-progress.
